my name is esteban edit rodriguez and i am a graduating senior at the university of texas at austin. as an activist, the actlab course 'taking it to the street' most importantly has offered the ability to look in on other student's direct actions from conception to planning and finally, performance. since i don't usually plan my regular actions around a university setting, the course has let me better notice the differences between political public intervention both in and out of college campus settings. i also realized that there will always be a butting of heads over certain issues with people i am working with whether they are closer friends or acquaintances (in my personal life) or nearly complete strangers (in this course). i thank sandy for her honesty, support, and encouragement of open lines of communication, be they verbal, emotional and/or physical.
