Project was inspired by the ancient Indian belief that women's sex drive was unquenchable and caused social anarchy. If a woman was denied pleasure, chaos and destruction soon followed. I reinterpreted this fable with Barbie and Ken and what ensues if Barbie is denied.
Given today's social world and beliefs, many gay, trans couples are denied the right to marriage. Project 2 is an interpretive look into what mainstream newspapers have been denying from the social pages. Perhaps one day wedding announcments such as this will align with those of heterosexual couples.
Gender is a classification determined and shaped by society. A child born with male genetalis does not automatically ask for GI Joes and legos. Society imposes its gender structure on children, forcing them to adhere to gender norms.
