The Trip

A Script

Okay, so it's our one year anniversary, and one night my girlfriend, Liza, says to me, "Hey, you know, Sarah, maybe we could take a trip somewhere to celebrate." I think about it for a few seconds and say, "Great idea! Pack your bags!"

It takes a few hours to think about where I want to take Liza, and then it hits me: Love Colorado. I once heard there is an awesome Bed and Breakfast outside Love called, the Loveshak. It's cozy, quiet, secluded and romantic.

So, I buy the tickets and a day later, Liza gets home from work. It turns out there was an emergency at work, she can't make it, its a government thing, yada, yada, yada. But that I should take a ticket and go. And we could celebrate later.

A few days later, I grab my bag and hop on a plane. As I'm waiting for the plane to land, a man comes over and sits right next to me. And guess what? He's going to Love, Colorado, too! What a coincidence. So, we buckle up and talk the entire way.

When we land, it's a cool, beautiful afternoon. So we decide to walk the five miles outside town to Loveshak. I pull out my little map, and point the way. While we're walking through the town, we suddenly see a dog running towares us. He looks a little ferocious. Just then my friend, who happens to be a dog trainer takes command, and in 15 seconds, teaches the dog to be one hundred percent obedient.

Well, all three of us continue on our way after that, until we reach a crosswalk. As we stand there waiting to walk, a mime comes right up to us. As we continue to walk, she follows us. Then we decide, sure, she can come too. After all, mimes do need food and sleep. So we welcome her, and continue on our way.

About four miles down the road we come to a Y. It is in this exact spot that the map has a big splotch of jelly on it. Damn airplanes. And I can't figure out which road to take. As we stand there pondering which road to take, we see something coming down one of the roads. It turns out to be a man dancing his way towards us. So we stop him to ask him if the Loveshak is over his way, and he says, "No". So, we conclude it must be the other way. Just then, Mr. Dancer decides that we look like a groovy bunch of people to join. So, we welcome him, and continue on.

We eventually come to a sign in the road that says, "Loveshak Bed and Breakfast", however, once we get inside, the attendant walks all the way around the desk just to tell us, "Sorry, guys, I've only got one room." So we take it.

Next thing I know, the five of us are spending the entire weekend together laughing, and talking and eating. And sleeping in the same bed. By the time Sunday rolls around, it is time for us to say goodbye. I say goodbye to the dancer, and to the mime, and to the dog, and to the dogtrainer, who's going to hang around for another week. And I grab my bag and head all the way home.

Once I'm there, I'm a little tired from my solo second honeymoon trip. So, I sit down to relax when Liza comes out and says to me, "You know, Sarah, maybe next year we can take a trip. But I'm thinking we can go to...Africa!"
