Learn Something Awesome!

Learn Something Awesome! is a series of workshop/skill-share events in the Austin area. It was started as part of my ACTLab TV project in Summer 2007. The project was focused on peer-to-peer education. The workshop series is intended to bring members of the Austin community together in order to work on projects and make things together. We have had all kinds of workshops including: knitting, screen-printing, creating and distributing music albums, installing solar panels on houses, personal multimedia production, making solar LED lamps, book binding, and so on.

The best part about putting together these events is meeting people in the community who are as excited about making things as I am. I'm really excited more and more DIY events have been coming to Austin (such as Acknowledge Me, Maker Faire, and so on.)

The next thing happening in Austin is big city-wide skill sharing event that a group of people are putting together. It is still in the early stages. If you would like to get involved please email me and I can tell you when our next meeting is. My email is aimy AT mail DOT utexas DOT edu.
