Soundfall 2001 Project - The original idea for the, "Fun With Bikes," project, as I envisioned it, came about as a sound sculpture that integrated the myriad of sounds associated with bikes and their many parts. I had intended it to be strictly a sculpture that would be playable by anyone. While the project began as a sculpture, after consulting with the group, it quickly took on a new perspective once it became wearable. The interactivity of the project increased greatly by allowing the person to step inside the bike. It led to a more intimate use of the sculpture, akin to something like the experience of actually riding a bike. The sculpture is designed to give maximum use of all the parts attached to the sculpture to immerse the user in the world of bike noise.
