Ocular Migrane: The Poem The night was cool and calm; nothing was out of the ordinary. The evening's plans unfolded accordingly, and the spirits of our bodies were high and excited. My fellow comrads and I danced in the cloud filled room to music that manuvered our bodies, and with the aid of some liquid persuasion true unfiltered emotions began to surface. All around a slew of colors blinked excitedly on the blank faced walls. Cheerful camotion cluttered the mind and soul that created a safe and familiar aura. As time seist to exist the night grew older and colder. Sitting in a circle like a tribe of indians with our legs crossed, conversation became stimulated with the passing of peace. Empty glasses, once used to wet the whistle, now perform music and decorate the inviting room. All seemed well in Whoville and all the Whos continued to chat, except for this Who who noticed a grinch sneak in like a rat. The voice in my soul appeared to sit still as it wouldn't release even the tineast squeal. Paranoia now clinched to my toes begins slowly to climb up the spine. The paranoia now branches out through all of my limbs and won't let go. As it continues to rise up to my brain so does the temperature of the body. This new sensation begins to confuse the senses, as they shift into overload. The heart instead of beating to the rythm of the music, now pounds against the chest like a salvation army drum. Attempting to appear fine the body revults by shaking with small tremors. The brain is now screaming and feels as if it is pulsating with fear, and gives way to blurred vision. Visually the night recreates the images of childhood nightmares, and once friendly faces now glow with terror and abandonment. The flashing lights of color have turned into hypnotic machines that create signs of nasea. The whole scene appeared as a sadistic carnival ride stuck on repeat. Each hill and curve of the ride only made my mind fainter and more dizzy with nasea and fear. Escape was no longer an option, this ride would continue until it broke down and my body lay unconscouis. Everything appeared as 2D paper animations pasted on a background, and the whole expereince seemed surreal. Many times my mind felt incomprehensible to what was being presented to it, as zig zag patterns crossed in and out of reality as if my receptors were receiving a poor signal. Now sitting in a room alone like a confined mental patient letting time just tick away my body eventually reutrns to homeostasis. Not knowledgable of the events that just occured these symptons now plague my soul until my body lay at rest for the final time. |
