Project - 2
For project #2 I decided to dive into the world of superstition. The decision to do this particular project started witb wanting to experiment with the effect of a guy getting hit by a car. Once I had the idea I quickly wrote out the script and called up a chill actor that I've used a couple of times. Also working on the shoot was Kim and Bill, who when not working on set are my parents. When we began shooting we decided to do the greenscreen stuff first. We did a couple of test to make sure the actor would be in frame and that no shadows were ruining the shot before we actually began filming. After this we had the actor walk down a road. Once he reached a certain point in front of the greenscreen he turned and flinched. This was all that was required for the actor to do in order to pull off the effect. Next without moving the camera we had the actor drive his car through the position that he just walked. Once this was done we had all the shots we needed to pull the effect off, but before I let my actor go we quickly shot our dialogue scene which was fun. Once we were done with all of the production stuff it was time to begin the time consuming post production. In order to convey the actor getting hit by a car, we composited the two shots (the actor crossing the road and the actor driving thru the road) together. Then we had to take the image of the actor and freeze it and move it across the screen with the car. This makes it look like he stays with the car as it hits him and drives out of the frame. Finally we edited the rest of the footage and presented it to the wonderful actlab class. |
