Weird Science Part 2

as experienced by Lisa Calhoun

In the Fall of 2003, I took my second Actlab course with Sandy Stone. The title of the course was Weird Science. I had no ideas what to expect the first day of class except that I had enjoyed my previous Actlab class with Sandy.

For this class we were required to do three projects, the last being the most important.

For my first project I did a presentation over the future, or what I deemed it to be, of spaceship design . I brought in a toy that I thought helped point out my theory that ship design was leaning toward a slimmer, more aerodynamic look.

For my second project I did some research over the topic of sleep walking, I wanted to know if anyone had found a cure for it. As it turns out the most common cure is to simply do nothing, but there were some websites that I found that gave recipes for elixirs that claimed to provide a more immediate cure. I made up one of the formulas and brought in to establish how unpleasant it smelled and that the cure may be worse that the disease.

For my final project I decided to focus on something that has preoccupied my mind since the beginning of the semester, my graduation and thus my liberation from UT. Now that I am at the end, I find myself looking back on what I have really learned from college. It was pretty folks. I decided to embark upon a mission to learn a program that I have been avoiding for 4 1/2 years, Power Point. So for my final project I did a Power Point presentation over the (life) experience I will leaving college with. My College Experience
