project1= The idea for this project was to capture the remains of the once sole mass-air transit artery for Austin, Texas; Robert Mueller Airport. Before Bergstrom Air Force Base was transformed into a commercial airport, Mueller was responsible for literally hundreds of Austin's daily flights to destinations within the United States and abroad. After its replacement, Mueller, a once extremely efficient structure was left to decay under the Texas sun. The photos in this project were taken during a time of rupture and transition for this peace of real-estate as it was on its way to becoming either a new and "over-priced" neighborhood or simply an enormous parking structure. If you are reading this 20 years from now...know that there once was an airport in Austin that wasn't an hour away by car...that is if you still are driving cars...or flying in planes...or even have any oil left...but, maybe you came up with an alternative...if not, that's a whole other death topic.
