In objective terms, this song is simply about a woman who has been mistreated and neglected by her husband throughout a majority of their lives together.  Suddenly, without warning, she decides one day to leave him.  After she is gone, the man is forced to understand the pain that he has caused her by leaving her alone night after night.  This is a story of role reversal and the idea that this type of treatment (that I feel is unfortunately an all too often occurrence) within a marriage is the opposite of what one might expect...The Opposite of Home...enjoy.
