The Cancer
These once pristine hills of Austin, Texas are being eaten away by the cancer
of "suburbia", the so-called "Civilization". Will we learn the folly of our
ways before it is too late, or will concrete & asphalt & Carbon Monoxide
replace the beauty, harmony and love of nature? Look at the destruction
creeping over the hilltops in these pictures!
Austin was supposed to be a "compact city", but the "boom" of the 1980s allowed "big money" to "cajole" (can you say bribe?) the city council into removing many building restrictions, which allowed an urban sprawl to begin that is now eating away at our once gorgeous countryside. I fear what is to come if the government (and the citizens!) don't stand up soon, and say "ENOUGH!" Go look at places like Houston, or Los Angeles to see what urban sprawl does to a landscape... Cancer is almost too kind a word for it.
I would like to rant about how the automobile is to blame for much of this problem, and many others, in our society, but I don't have the energy. Just THINK about it, and I'm sure with a little knowledge of what TOXINS cars produce (physi cally, emotionally, and socially) you will come to the right conclusion: Cars are killing us, and we must change our ways or we will lose this game of life.
