My second project involves
my plan for a music video for a band called Fever
Tree Rising.
Fever
Tree Rising
is the modern incarnation of a psychadelic rock band of the 1960's
called Fever
Tree.
The current band is made up of John Fannin on guitar, Mark Andes on
bass, David Breaux on the keyboard, Kevin Hall on drums, and the only
orginal member Dennis Keller on lead vocals. Dennis' wife, Rhonda, is a
UT alumnus, so she looked back that direction for someone interested in
doing a music video for them. My name came up, and here I am.
I’ve
got the footage. Next,
I’ll cut that up into a performance. The idea that I had as I
was filming was
to use footage from the different performances, and intercut them as if
it were
one performance. The audio track will be a produced (not live) track of
the
song, so audio cutting won’t be an issue. After I have the
live footage edited,
I’m going to take it into Flash and rotoscope (trace
individual frames) it.
I’ll keep the images simple to keep the workload realistic.
The pictures will
end up being black lines on a white (or textured surface like
wadded-then-unwadded paper) background for a sort of sketchbook
aesthetic.
This is what it looks like
at this stage.
After I have that, I’ll
take it into AfterEffects and separate it into clips to exist as their
own
layers and position those in the 3D environment such a way that I can
move the
camera around and explore the clips. I will dress up the environment
with a
grid of lights above the level of the clips to make it look sort of
like a
giant warehouse.
Here is a test of the
AfterEffects'ed stage.
It's still up in the air,
so who knows how it will turn out. That's
where I am right now.
