Description:
Since this was my first project for the class, I was
really forced to stretch my mind and come up with something that I
thought would relate to the class appropriately. Fortunately, I had
been tossing around in my head the idea of a bunch of political
speeches laid on top of some ambient guitar work. From there, I added
the idea of transition within the public/political spectrum as well as
the motif of the death of progressive public figures. I do feel very
strongly that most of the public figures we have today are appallingly
conservative in their political leanings. Now I am not going to sit
here and tell you that it is wrong to be conservative, but I think that
this monopoly on viewpoints in the public media is a very dangerous
thing that needs to be rectified. Thirty years ago you could be in the
public eye and challenge the government all at the same time. These
days, people like Micheal Moore are vilified by a large portion of the
population simply because he is expressing a viewpoint that is outside
the mainstream. Moore's credibility aside, I believe that both
sides should be free to express their views without being shunned.
This was recorded in Logic then sequenced and
semi-mastered in Audacity. The speech clips were all found online
through various sources and the music in the background is all me and
my guitar.
Enjoy.
