Summary:
I started the year with alot of questions concerning dreams and memories. I’d been haunted by some previous experiences in dreams as of late, and thus my first project was born.
Project 1 was an untitled piece of work that was born out of obsession with visualizing memories and their impacts on dreams. I shot a great deal of footage on two different cameras (of greatly different qualities) resulting in some images that I ended up very pleased with. The editing and the self-composed music track entitled ‘Everything Has Become a Memory’ turned into some great art that I was very proud of.
Project 2 began life as a ‘dream machine’. I went out to several crazy ‘build-it-yourself’ computer shops and came home with a lot of components to build some stuff. This however crashed down when the machine itself did not work. I instead turned to focus on an improvisational narrative based loosely on my own problems realizing the project. The music track was recorded live, and some of the images used turned out to really grasp the feeling I wanted.
Project 3 was easily the most difficult for me. I think because it was the only project where I knew EXACTLY what I wanted it to look like when I was finished. I could see it and hear it in my head while I was planning it out. For a full fleshed out description of how a nightmare project eventually turned into a vanillasky inspired smash of images, lives, memories, and delirium, check out its dedicated page here.
