Though
this brand of science took deadly serious forms—eugenics,
for example, in which supposedly scientific racial differences
were used to justify genocide—it is also laughably weird
in many ways. The idea is to exaggerate
the presentation of "facts" about a modern group of
people that most viewers might classify as at most eccentric—but
certainly not a sub-race of humanity. Parodying what was once
considered valid science can perhaps make us question our own
assumptions as well.
