LaCoste and Romberg Model G Gravity Meter*
Concept drawing of L&R Model G Gravity Meter*
Dan's replica of LaCoste's seismograph
A comparison of a gravity meter sensor and the long period vertical seismograph reveals similar systems. Note that the seismograph is about 15-times larger and that the spring of the gravity meter is surrounded by a cage. The mass of the gravity meter is hidden by the optics on the lower left. The dome-like device on the gravity meter beam is for barometric compensation.

The drawing shows some of the additional components required of a gravity meter, but not the dampers shown in the photograph below each end of the beam.
I will admit my interest in this seismograph project comes from being an employee of LaCoste and Romberg from 1964 through 1994 and learning from Dr. LaCoste for 22 of those years.
