i then moved to amy's apartment at 39th and Ave B.
i decided to move to representing negative space.
i shaded my whole paper black with soft charcoal and erased away positive space to show negative space.
black and white are reversed to show negative space, and the clear glue becomes black.
so i figured out where the rays came from.
amy had done a sketch of her model which i liked, and she had dowel sticks in hers which transferred to my drawing.
my environment and the people around me influence my creativity.
for the next drawing i used darker hard uncompressed charcoal to cover the paper with.
i found out the graphite comes off easy and smears, but if you use a 2HB pencil over it, it will stay and shimmer in light.
(this drawing above shimmers in the right angle of light)
for the drawing below i used a 7B graphite pencil which is a nice medium for me.
(i continued its use throughout the rest of the drawings)
i decided to draw and represent the other side of my model which i hadn't drawn yet.
i think the extra lines give movement to my model.
the drawing below is my representation of paris.
it is an abstract view from above my model, and the rays permeate this picture as well, and the circle represents arrondissements.
in the drawing below the rays are used to hold up the corners of my triangle.
The inner view shows 2 views of the model.
one looking from a far view in the triangle,
and the other looking close-up at a spot in my model.
This drawing represents the negative space of one of Amy's pre-drawings of my model that we did in class.
i showed the negative view of her positive drawing.
i traveled down 2 avenues and located a building which i found to be a hot-spot in Amy's drawing.
The drawing below is a view of my model in reality. It is an outside view collapsed.
The ground, shadow, and sky are all represented.
The drawing below carried the black line from the drawing above.
In this drawing my model is represented in the black space.
i erased away the edge view of my model.
i felt the paper to be incomplete (there was a lot of empty space)
so i drew other lines, other items.
piano keys reside in the lower left corner.
The other lines are shadows from an outside fence that lay on my paper and i traced their edge.
