PROJECT 3: The Disappearance of Mark Dennis
The "true" story of why yours truly was absent the last month and a half of class as told by my roommate, Sidd Sinha. I stopped coming to class all together in the middle of October because of some scheduling conflicts with my work but every Wednesday when Sidd would come home and talk about what happened in PMG, he mentioned Sandy and Joe were regularly having attendance issues with a lot of the students. Knowing that I wouldn't be able to come to class, I decided to address this issue by incorporating my absences into the final project. |
I wrote a screenplay early on that we planned on filming as the first part of a two-part project. The first part "The Disappearance of Mark Dennis" would lead into the second, an idea I had the very first day of class called "Parallel University", where I go into an alternate world where humans are viewed as monsters, and monsters are taking this class and studying us. Ultimately, they would be point out the flaws and atrocities of human nature and send me back to my world with a new outlook. Yes, it's cheezy, but because of the workload that went into the first part of the film, time and energy were wearing thin at the end of the semester. The final cut seemed like enough and was already at a pushy running time so I scrapped "Parallel University" all together, though the closing music of TDOMD is supposed to be a direct reference through the Red Hot Chili Peppers' song Parallel Universe.
