“ART” challenges the conventional approach to studio art: that it is designed by a single artist. A 8’ by 4’ “canvas” was divided into 64 equal segments, and 64 unique people were asked to use any supplies available to them to create an expression in a single square. Their creation could be anything imaginable: iconic, symbolic, colorful, artistic, situational. I filmed the process from a static position and then time-lapsed the footage. Before your eyes you can see “art” being created, and once all 64 squares are completed, the canvas is transformed into a self-contained expression.
