I laid down on a large piece of
ply-wood and had my dad trace my outline with a marker. |
Then i used a jigsaw to cut the
outline out. |
To represent my herniated disk
and the subsequent lower-back pain I used a blow torch. I used
the fire to symbolize the burning pain of the injury and traced it down
my left leg. |
The blow torch has charred my
outline. The fire and the pain still persist. |
To weather my outline and
symbolize the toll that aging puts on the human body I set myself on
fire! |
The combination of lighter fluid
and matches is pretty self explanitory. |
The star-looking symbol on the
right is one of my grandfather's war medals that i burned into the
wood. Both my father and grandfather were deeply affected by
World War Two and this medal symbolizes that. |
I used metal eye-hooks to
represent my glasses. Sometimes i barely notice that I am wearing
them, othertimes I feel like I am wearing 10 pounds of bulky metal on
my face. I also used a hot iron to burn in simple features.
A
mouth, and veins(not shown) for example. |
