The concept behind this project really started off with my search of what we would consider monstrous in the reality in which we live. The closest thing that I could relate to real live "zombies" would probably be rabid animals. I have a good friend who happens to be a neuroscientist studying aggression and it just seemed too interesting that this rabies virus "knows" more about neurologically controlling aggression than the top minds of our own species. One thing led to another and I delved into a world of protozoa, bacteria, viruses, and various other larger parasites that manipulate their hosts by a variety of ways. In many instances behavior is affected by mere physical stimulation, or irritation rather, but the parasites that have evolved neurological or hormonal manipulation of their hosts are by far the most fascinating. I do want to thank the neuroscientists specifically for my own personal enlightenment... so extra special thanks to Dr. Robert Sapolsky, Dr. Manuel Berdoy, and Catalina Cervantes for their incredible minds and work.
