From Three Dimensions to Two The Proposal: Explore the three dimensional model and make 12 drawings. These drawings should explore positive and negative space as well as other aspects discovered within the model. The Process: I studied the model from multiple angles and proximities. I explored the space and shadows present throughout my model and made small sketches as representations of what I saw. I found these sketches were very helpful; they guided me in the process of making my final drawings. I thought it was more challenging to convert aspects of the model onto paper than it was for me to construct the model from "Broadway Boogie Woogie." When I constructed the model, I had an organized process for doing so. I took many steps to complete a single product. With the drawings, however, I often felt stuck and unable to convey my observations on paper. The smaller sketces acted as a sort of mediator between my eyes and hand; they helped me understand what I was trying to convey and how to draw it. While some of the drawings involve the entire model, others focus on very small spaces within the model. I really enjoyed exploring my model and conveying some of my discoveries on paper. |
