experiment 422: joybomb This was an experiment in the nature of project as experience instead of product. This movie is merely documentation of the project itself, which was a shared experience. The class was given cryptic, wordless instructions and a pile of materials. Those who chose to participate each constructed a mysterious device. Much like the physicists who devised the math that would eventually lead to the construction of the atomic bomb, the participants were unknownlingly construction a machine with a purpose. In this case it was a joyous apparatus. Sandy Stone lectures on over the barely contained chaos of straws and scissors about John Cage and the audience as the composition, unknowingly self-reflecting on the experience even as it happens. |
