This is the promise of synergetics. It doesn't matter how flimsy your materials are, how crude your tools, or how incompetent your construction. The principles of synergetic geometry overpower the individual pieces. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This is how I felt about us. If I could just get everything assembled at one time, for just an instant, the result would be indestructable. We were an unbeatable team, Team Sweetie. I loved her more than hexagons. I taught her how to make a jitterbug out of drinking straws and she taught me how to make every imaginable kind of furniture out of old records. She read the great works of modern literature and knitted my scarves whose patterns of color followed the curves of their paragraphs. We were going to live in a dome and have a daughter and name her Zoe New York. We were strange and beautiful. This was my one hope in life, that through my only assets, intelligence and arcane knowledge, I could beat the fundamental forces of nature: entropy, insecurity, and self-defeat. We planned our dream dome and drew up plans. We argued over carpet vs. tile. I saved enough money to put down a down payment on some land. I could draw the floor plan for you from memory. The problem with synergetic structures is that they're not stable until they're fully assembled. As you push one piece into place, another pops out. You use both hands to push them both into place and three more break loose. What you need to do is assemble the whole thing beforehand so that it's stable. Then you can safely start the assembly process. The only way to win is to have already finished.
