Subject: summer internship

Hi my name is Robert Fancher. EID= RF363 fanch@Mail.utexas.edu LA 310wb
summer

I'm a senior and a RTF major. I'm in a special position because the
only thing I need in order to graduate is hours outside of the school of
communication. I have an internship lined up for this summer that is on
campus and run by some masters students. I can't register for either
the RTF division internship program or the general COM internship,
because then those hours wouldn't count for anything for my major, since
I already have too many hours inside the school of communication.

So, now I'm looking for other internship opportunities for the summer
outside of communication. I was told about LA 310wb (formerly HMN
310wb) and I got excited until I found out it's for LA majors only. I
was told that you could confirm for me that there's no way a
Communications/RTF major like me could get into that LA internship
program. I'm sure we could tailor my internship position this summer
around any sort of requirements that Liberal Arts needs, if that was
indeed possible.

Someone said you might know of another summer internship credit
available over the summer that isn't required by a certain major. I am
very eager to find a division of some school outside of Communication
that could offer me 3 hours of credit for a summer internship with
ACTLab TV. (http://www.actlab.tv) With that position I can help develop
a community of people on the internet for open-source and copyleft
software. I'm not one of the lead programmers on the team or anything,
that job is held by Brandon Wiley who is puursuing a masters degree in
media studies. I will be helping them over the summer to reach out
online and help as many people as possible discover our new, free
video-streaming software that we think can revolutionize the way that
online media is delivered to computers.

anyways, so basically I want to make sure that LA 310wb (formerly HMN
310wb) really is only for Liberal Arts students, and I want to see if
you know of any other internship credit opportunities on campus in
another school that I could get into (as an RTF major).

thank you for your time

Robert Fancher
