To go, or not to go. This's the only question, for a know-all.

What is journey?

Going, going away, leaving, changing, and finally TRAIN. A real journey means traveling by train. Not the plane or the car or the bus or the ship. On a plane, you just see the clouds but nothing. You should STEP on the ground to think about your past and future. Why? Although i-pods, laptops and the other stuff have been created to keep us apart from thinking during our travels (I know, it sounds drastically paranoid), traveling can still provide the BEST time to THINK.

BUS? Maybe. But not romantic, dramatic, or tragic at all.

Ship? Not at all. Facing the sea is not so fair. Why? Because blue's so relaxing. Then how can I recall my bad memories, feel sad, and then recall worse memories? (God...Turkish drama.)

Car? Maybe. But it's difficult to be alone in a car. You have to be at least 2. If you don't have a driver's licence. Just like me.

Train. All these scenes passing slowly, fast and faster, give you the time simply, to think. It's kind of nostalgic, which makes it more beatiful, more valuable. To me.

ll

At first, I wanted to build a train. I'd find small bags and make wagons out of them. I'd replace some photos on the bags in order to say that; you have your PAST while you're going to your FUTURE.

Not so deep at all. During my college education, I used to travel from Eskisehir, my college town to Istanbul, my hometown by train. That's why TRAINS'll always be special to me.

And these train thing...I couldn't find the type of bags I want. They were either too big or too "cold". Then I decided to make them myself. Using hard papers, I managed to build a train. But I didn't like it.

Finally, I decided to use my best tool.

Guitar. The classical one.

I've been playing classical guitar since i was 11. But I was never mature enough to practice hard and then I wasn't smart enough to pursue a musical career. So, I proudly forgat most of the things I used to know. For this final project, I made a huge effort to be able to play classical guitar again. Music theories, notations, modes, tones, transcripts... and an impatient Gokce.

I had begun this piece long ago. But I wasn't able to continue. Now, I have 3 parts, dedicated to TRAIN.

First part is "Morning". One wakes up, opens the window, sees the sun and welcomes the new day. This part begins with a melody, almost like a question mark in Latin style and it continues joyfully in the major tone.

(This explanation seems to be written as if on a concert brochure, in which the nicest, the most impressive piece of the 21st century will be performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.)

The second part is "Preparing the Bags". The luggages are prepared. It's the time to GO, time to LEAVE. It begins in a gloom in the minor tone and (surprisingly!)ends in sadness.

The third part is "TRAIN;to LEAVE". Finally, the train's arrived and it's the time to go, to move. It "suddenly" begins and then follows the fast scenes as the train goes faster and faster. The confusion, the past and the future are mixed within the main theme, which has formed the last part of the first part "Morning". Train goes, stops and moves again. Finally we hear the "arrival sound" and the last part ends happily, carrying the hope of a new beginning.

The fourth part is "Arrival; What did you find?". Hasn't been composed yet.

In the last 1.5 months, it took all of my time. But I feel that it's worth it.

I think I tried to do one of the hardest things in life; composing. I hope I can be discovered before a hundred years.

Here we go...
