Light Sabers - Step 1

 
  Original Footage

The actors were shot on location with an umbrella and a soda cup. The majority of the fight was improvised.

 
       
 

Light Sabers - Step 2

 
  Sabers

The light sabers were created and moved accordingly for each individual frame.

 

Light Sabers - Step 3

 
  Final Composite

The Saber element is composited onto the footage. Then the letterbox mask is composited to give a more aesthetic aspect ratio.

 

Tree Punch - Step 1

The actor was shot pretending to punch the tree.

  Final Composite
A smoke/debris element was composited onto the footage. Then the image was color corrected and a slight glow was applied to the edges. Finally the letterbox mask was added.

 
 

Newspaper - Step 1

 
  Original Footage

The actor was shot reading a random newspaper.

 

Newspaper - Step 2

 
  Bluescreen Dancer

The actor was shot dancing in front of a bluescreen.

 

Newspaper - Step 3

 
  The Print look

After the image was keyed, a print effect was added. This was composited onto a gray background which also had a print effect.
 

Newspaper - Step 4

 
  Final Composite

The dancer and the background were then composited onto the original footage. This was motion tracked to match the movement of the real newspaper. It was then hand adjusted on each frame when the page is turned. The image was then color corrected slightly (more cool/blue) and the letterbox mask was added.
