Little Green Footballs Is a neo-conservative blog run by Charles Johnson that is strongly anti-Muslim and generally focuses on waging its own war AGAINST radical Islam. They tend not to like Democrats at all, though, and to shore up Republicans from time to time and this led to some of their members playing a key role in exposing the documents that Dan Rather presented as being false and that ultimately led to his resignation.

TPM is a blog run by Joshuah Michah Marshall as a commentary/news site. They have extensive contacts and sources and are more in-line with what one could call 'citizen journalism.'

DailyKos is a blog run by Markos Moulitsas as a partisan Democratic blog with the general purpose of electing 'more and better' Democrats. They consider themselves to be more like activists than journalists. Both of these blogs, however, were instrumental in keeping attention focused on (and doing a lot of the legwork on) the U.S. Attorneys Scandal that ultimately led to Alberto Gonzalez's resignation.
