I knew though, at night my car still looked fully functional, and because I have an awesome set of mufflers on my car it still sounds great. So by filming at night my car was born again. I taped all the speeded up scenes from inside my car by holding the camera steady as I drove around the local campus area. The voice of the car was done by my lovely girlfriend. I basically used stop/start cuts to resemble the syllables changing similar to Night Rider. The “oil change” light was on because my car needs an oil change and after about 20 seconds it disappears on its own. Sooooo by staring at the oil change light for long enough I was able to capture the moment when it turns off.
This project was a lot of fun, and it made me appreciate my car that much more. It makes me laugh every time I view it because I know the kind of car it truly is. I am hoping that Project #2 or Project #3 will be able to help a little in fixing the actual car rather making something that isn’t there. I felt this project reflected the view of what we as people saw as the future of what cars SHOULD be. I gave my car a voice and it performed acts that I felt would one be done all by the car. For example, a car that can fill itself up with gas or change its own oil would be awesome! I thought this project was hopefully humorous and ironic and I hope all of you do as well!
