Background:

For my second project I got really inspired by the Lynn Spigel article “Installing the Television Set: Popular Discourses on Television and Domestic Space, 1948-1955”.  This article really showed how the evolution of the television affected the atmosphere of the average house.  It told how the TV set has gone through changes in the years and now is a prime focal point of how we organize the rooms in our house to better server our viewing.  My project is a device one puts behind their TV set to create an ambient setting as they watch TV.  Because the TV plays such a dominant role in the design and layout of rooms, the TV has become more and more important. My device has three different settings: blue, white, red.  I use the blue light when I watch shows like Law & Order, or The Discovery Channel.  I use the red light for viewing horror films, on the day of my presentation it was Halloween, I thought it would be appropriate.  The white light is for any show or movie one may be watching.  The light as it reflects off the wall relaxes strain on the eye.
