When I first looked at Mandrian's Broadway Boogie (pictured below), it was relatively easy for me to imagine what the painting would look like in three dimensions. I imagined a city with tall buildings and crowded streets. At first I thought that this was a fairly simple task to complete, but I found that I was completely mistaken. I struggled for a few hours trying to produce something that was both true to the painting and that I was pleased with.
This was my first chipboard model. I tried ways of creating curving lines and acute angles, but was not pleased with the way it turned out. In this model as well, I tried new things but was not happy with this model either. From this point, I tried a few other methods of modeling, all of which were unsuccessful. |

Then finally...a model that I liked!!!!! (The picture will be added shortly) |

From this chipboard model I created
my final basswood model...While making this I tried to model the painting
as if it were folded onto the inner sides of part of a cube (I will post
a picture of the entire model in the next few days and this will be easier
to understand). I did not attempt to model the painting exactly; I tried
to model the spirit of the painting.
