Project 2: Video Book

The idea for my second project began with two requirements 1) I wanted to work with displaying a monitor in an unconventional way (inspired by Aimy's Ambient TV project) and 2) I wanted to have some sort of attachment to my project beyond school.

Upon receiving some sentimental textbooks that I could never get rid of but would also never read I had an "aha" idea to use one as the container for my video.  From here fulfilling the second requirement was easy; I would put a video on the monitor that further enhanced the sentimental value of the book.
After finding the right monitor for the job (5.6" digital photo frame), adding a battery pack to power the monitor (4 AA), adding an external speaker for sound and lots and lots of page cutting this is what I came up with:
