Dear Friends:

Sarah Smith and Kyle Schmidt are embarking on an adventure and we want YOU to join us.

For our class on the uncanny we are charged to make something that expresses and explores some aspect of the uncanny.  Partially inspired by a 1964 Travis High School yearbook, we have decided to explore the connection of nostalgia to the uncanny by to creating our own yearbook.  Yes, we are co-editing an entire yearbook in a semester.  However, in our self-stylized high school world, the pictures of students have all been tweaked to deemphasize their humanity--our students are faceless and expressionless--they have objects in place of heads (i.e. a boy with a tuba for a head, a girl with a toaster for a head, a boy with a flashlight for a head, etc.).

Okay, okay, we admit: it sounds a little crazy.  But we're banking that all good ideas sound a little wild in their initial stages.  So we ask for your faith, love, and support in this process.

We also ask for your bodies.

In order to create a fantasy high school world of object-headed people we need a rotating cast of bodies for a variety of pictures (candids, organizations, sports, class photos, etc.).  You have been identified by Sarah and I as people who are fun, reliable, and creative.  We want YOU to be the stars of our high school.  We want YOU be the jocks, jokers, and jezebels.  We want YOU to the our innaugural class.

To participate we need you to commit to our first photo shoot occuring this Saturday.  We'll be shooting the Senior Superlatives.  You will given a superlative (Best Dressed, Class Clown, Most Likely to Succeed, etc.) and your picture will be taken.  We want to schedule people in one of two slots: either 12-2 or 2-4.  While we may not need you for this entire block of time, but we want to assure your availability for this time so that we can make sure to get your best side as we begin our book.

Beyond this we would ask that you would be willing to show up to a few more candid photo shoots throughout the semester (German Club, Student Council, Prom, Pep Rally, wild times in the hallways, etc.).  These will never take much time and will always be TONS of fun.

To participate, please shoot an e-mail back with your preference for the 12-2 slot or the 2-4 slot.  You will get an e-mail about clothing and place after we secure our line-up of participants.

So you wanna help make uncanny art?

Love forever,

Kyle and Sarah
