For my first project, I decided to load up the Nikon F3 and head on down to campus, and see if I just couldn't find a couple of ghosts to photograph. Not only did I find a couple, but I happened to spot a UFO as well. Afterward, I headed down to the cemetary to see what would develop. Click for larger scans:
The ghosts were all shot on ISO 800 film, in the dark. The exposures were very long, and I am particularly pleased with the way I was able to achieve a very shallow depth of field, capture the ghost, and give the impression that it was taken in daylight. To take such a shot in daylight, with that shallow of a depth of field would be quite challenging, if not impossible to replicate the results quite the same way, so needless to say, I am happy with the way that came out. The UFO was shot on both positive and negative film, the scan depicted above is a scan of one of the positives. The UFO was constructed from a whiffle ball suspended by a fishing line from a very long steel pole. Contained within were two LED keychains, one red, one blue. I have a shot where the red one was out, and I deliberately focused on the ball, rather than the contents of the skyline. It made for a rather humorous shot: the whole scam exposed, and somehow there is a floating, neatly illuminated whiffle ball where the UFO was mere seconds before.
And yes, the ghost on the right in the first shot, wearing the red shirt, is me.
