My final project was an abstract piece, more similar to the work I'd been doing in Death. It contains an audio collage which is set to non-representational film. Much like my second Death project, the video is comprised of painted and digitally manipulated 16mm film leader. By tweaking and inverting the color, I managed to achieve an odd, x-ray sort of effect. The driving idea behind this project was an empathic exploration of a robot's plight. This came from an idea I had to make a trailer for a futuristic Frankenstein interpretation, where the monster is a cyborg, rather than an assimilation of deceased human parts. The cyborg would face the same questions of identity as Frankenstein's monster had to. When I realized that my idea of stop motion animating legos to create this trailer just wasn't going to work, I decided to try to express the notion of robotic identity in another manner.
