PROJECT TWO
MANUFACTURING A BAND
Manufactured bands refer to groups who have specialized songwriters and musicians who write all of their songs and managers and production engineers who manage all aspects of their work from touring and live appearances to style and personal dress and image. The subject of these bands is usually an attractive group that are responsive to a particular niche in the record market and are regulated with the sole purpose of manufacturing music and generating wealth. This became popular in the 1990s, and particularly in the 2000s with reality pop shows such as Pop Idol and X Factor. Overview: With this project I wanted to delve into the comedy of manufactured bands. These days it's less popular to see bands who are made up to just generate money, but back in the 90's it was the most known thing in the music industry. Boy bands, such as Backstreet Boys and N'SYNC, were popping up left and right, following with pop singers like Britney Spears. I've always found them too funny to even take seriously because to me music is a personal expression and when it's only there to make money it looses its expression. So this was my way of visiting the past and making fun of it. ^_^\/
