Birth of DTSS

On May 1 at 4:00 a.m., the Dartmouth College Time-Sharing System (DTSS) is born as it successfully executes two identical programs from two teletypes simultaneously, giving the correct answer to each. The program is:

  • 10 Print 2+2
  • 20 End

Mean time between failures of DTSS averages five minutes.
