Production Notes:

Reggie as a character:

Apart of the canon of "low-rent" thugs.

Al Pacino in Donny Brascoe?

Eddie Constantine (Alphaville)?

Sam Spade

Existentialist characteristics. Are we alone? Do we have alter-egos?

The Mind is an Innerzone - a battlefield for the subconscious. Our egos battle for supremacy and memory. These notes are outlines for our imagining of the film. Jon and Ben collectively arranged and brainstormed story ideas and influences for the film. Where was the film to be shot? What format (decidedly mini-DV and Hi-8)? All plot developments, visual ideas, and inspiration dervies from these notes...

Production Journal:

April 28, 2001

Filming at Pleasent Valley, we are accosted by a number of policemen, for to be exact, all pointing guns at my actors Caleb and Kyle, as well as myself. Forgetting the camera and the shot, I raise my hands and ask them not to blow my head off. Evidently, cars passing by the Pleasent Valley Bridge (off Ceasar Chavez) reported a man, dressed in a brown coat, was ambling around the area with a revolver and dead bent on killing someone. Of course, that brown coated man was Caleb, and not off was myself with the movie camera. Evidently no one saw the director, only a man with a gun. How surreal?
