The primary production problems I encountered during this project was that it was my first time using Pro Tools. It took some time to figure out exactly what I needed to do to create the sounds that I wanted.
After some trial and error, I eventually got a pretty firm grasp on the basics of the program, and it enabled me to create a very good first soundscape project. One other production problem I had is that some of the sounds I had downloaded would not transfer into Pro Tools. It continuously gave me an error message when I tried to convert certain sounds.
Iım not sure why this happened, but some of the sounds I wanted to use, which were in no different format that the other sounds, would not open in Pro Tools for some reason, therefore limiting my sound use, and causing me to change around my project framework a little. But in the end, the sounds that were still usable were enough to get the desired overall effects that I wanted.
This soundscape project represents what I feel that the object that I chose would sound like if it could create sounds. Like I described in my original description of the project, my object is a miniature version of a larger computer used to play trivia games online in different bars and restaurants. The larger version of the computer only makes one sound, and it is a monotonous and eventually annoying beep. When I got this miniature version of the device as a prize for playing the game, I saw many possibilities of what it could sound like. The device is five times smaller, and is a bright yellow color. It almost looks like a futuristic computer due to the size and color of it.
My goal was to create sounds to portray what futuristic sounds it would make. So I started off by having it play the original monotonous beeping, and it then suddenly starts crackling with static, and then becomes possessed, transforming into a high tech futuristic video game. The sounds continuously grow more intense, eventually leading up to a climax which is very unpleasant to listen to due to the volume and pitch of the sounds. The futuristic possessed computer then starts producing static once again, and eventually reverts back to its original monotonous state. It then slowly fades out, and the computer shuts itself off.
