Project
1: Magical
Scientific Field Invention Machine
This
was my first project and I wasn't exactly sure what was
expected. I had always had this idea of taking prefixes
and fields of study and combining them to make new, weird
scientific fields. I think it stemmed from my inability
to decide what to major in. I went through 3 colleges
in my first two years and wound up in RTF, which I'm very
happy with. I liked this project because it was pretty
simple, but effective in combining humor and science.
(The reason this is not on the ACTLab server is because
it requires PHP and MySQL databases and I was told that
ACTLab didn't have this.)
Project
2: EKG Machine
This
project didn't turn out as I expected it to. I built an
EKG machine basically from scratch, which was a great
learning experience for me. I learned how to solder and
many other things regarding electronics. The overall idea
of the project didn't pan out as I wanted it to. The goal
of the project was to make it all internet-capable. I
wanted people to be able to better express their excitement
or lack thereof on-line. Unfortunately, I could not get
a small part of the project to work which made the Internet
part unavailable. So although I learned a ton, this project
was my least favorite.
Project
3: A New Proposal for a Struggling
Ad Industry
I
liked this project because it is so cynical. I studied
advertising for a year and learned to hate everything
about it. Ads are everywhere nowadays and there is no
escaping them, so i made a project that poked fun at how
intrusive the industry can be. The sad part was that the
further I progressed with this project, the less crazy
it sounded. Now it seems that this could happen, because
if you see any futuristic movie like The Minority
Report, you see ads EVERYWHERE. So maybe this project
isn't so funny, but I still like it. I also learned some
Photoshop techniques that I hadn't really thought of before.
Overall, I wish I could have worked more on this project
and made a working prototype, but it was too hard.
