In my final project, I tried to recreate the long drive home aurally - first leaving the big city, and then travelling down the highway. In my soundscape, I attempted to recreate both the monotony of a long drive, and the random occurrences that transpire while traveling, such as stopping for fast food, being harrassed by fast and impatient drivers, and being pulled over by state troopers.
The core element for the soundscape is the sound of the road, complimented by engine glisses and roars, the rhythmic sound of the road's seams. Other "internal" elements will include the radio - which helps to set the mood, the driver snacking, and so on. External elements will come from other travelers and vehicles. As the trip goes on, a peaceful mind-set transforms into feelings of 'road rage', as the driver jockeys for position in unrelenting traffic.
