For project 3, I decided to explore the digital graffiti art of projection bombing. With a 1,000 lumen DLP projector, a 350 watt DC to AC inverter, a Canon GL2 and a laptop computer, I was able to project various images all over the UT campus. I drove around in my car with my girlfriend filming and with the projector on her lap. The days I chose to do this were nearing the last days of class. My first idea was to project inspiring messages. However, my better nature took over and I thought it would be more fun to project insulting messages. On the first day, weather was not permitting and all of my projections were from the confines of a building. The second day showed more success as it was a clear day. The only snag was that UTPD was on to me and asked me to not project any images. I cooperated and projected many visual images from the Windows Media Player visualizer all over campus. The grand finale was to project onto the iconic UT Tower. However, the tower was lit orange and I did what was possible at the time. Still not one to budge and give up on a grand opportunity, I made plans to project the next day on the tower as I had heard that the tower would be completely dark. But, it was then in which I found out that the tower would not be lit in honor of all the students who had passed away in the previous year. In good taste, I did not project that night and edited all of the footage I have to the video above. Project 3 - Projection Bombing
