In this project I wanted to create a three-act film on vampirism, and I wanted to do it by vampirizing texts I had previously created. I took two films I had previously made, one a 35 minute faux horro film called "The Attack of the Face" and the second a filmic portrayal of Alexandr Pushkin's "Queen of Spades". I then recut the films to represent three kinds of vampires that fascinate me, and in so doing redefined the films that were being vampirized and the portrayals of the original characters. The first is the Romantic vampire, who vampirizes a young woman. The same young woman shows up in the second act to vampirize the young man who played the first vampire. She does this in the form of a Mora, or sexual vampire, in this case a succubus. In the third act the same young woman is vampirized by a psychological vampire, who drains her energy by controlling her thoughts and actions. The cyclical nature is intentional, as vampirism is a cycle that perpetuates itself. The whole thing was then set to Geri Halliwell's "Desire" which is a pop song about love, but I have redefined as being vampirific.
