allow me to introduce myself......
I must confess, I am at a loss for words. I am surrounded by amazing
thinkers,
writers, all willing to share their encyclopedic knowledge, and yet.....
and yet why does it seem that everyone is dancing to their own tune?
thus, allow me to dance to mine.....an interesting article on law and the
internet,
here is a small bit......concerning the rapidity at which the internet
moves/changes
and how it affects law...
"Benjamin suggests that judges will find themselves in a sticky situation
where the "facts" as nailed down by the trial court have become outdated by
the time the case lands on the marble doorstep of a federal appeals court, or
even the Supreme Court.
"In the context of technology cases, the factual landscape changes rapidly
and continually," Benjamin said in an interview. "
A question then arises as to how this affects our conversations, speed and/or
rapidity at which we read, what we read. Not only are we all on different
pages,
it seems we're all on different books. One sees this in "live" seminar
classes, where
arguments are made according to writings from the mid-80s, yet those essays or
writings have been either repudiated, extended, or simply laughed out of
existence,
but the lack or inability of one to keep up with historical and academic
knowledge
pre-cludes us from not only "furthering" the arguments, but from expanding
our own
polemical tool boxes. (excuse the metaphors please !!)........and for those
thinking
that I champion a notion of mastery, rest at ease knowing that i do not,
simply that
we have to take into account not only the gluttony and proliferation of
information
via published material, but also now the internet.
Virilio is calling, and no one is answering !!!!!
On the Cyborg.............Dont get me wrong, I'm all for the Terminator, but
does it
not then become an alibi for foreclosing the "materialist" needs of those not
yet
"endowed" with cyber-media? The so called , "third-world subaltern woman"
who
has a bowl of beans and an AK-47 at her side?
Allow me to introduce myself........
Sergio Munoz-Sarmiento......
just a few thoughts while I learn how to read and write......
