EXPERIMENT II
THE OUTER BODY
My second experiment was to deliver an outer body experience to the eye Trek viewers. I wanted the subject to see themselves in a way they never have before. Sure there are mirrors, but a reflection is not a true outer body experience. With the eye treks hooked up to the camera, i could allow the subject to see themseves from any direction as well as zooming in for a close up.
Once again my test subject was hassan. I knew he played guitar and thought it would be an intriguing experience for him to witness himself playing the guitar. with the glasses on hassan said, "it was cool, i didn't even have to look down at the strings. It wasn't anything like looking at the mirror. It was different to see myself from somewhere else. it was definitely like an outer body experience." It seemed to that I had accomplished my goal, but i wasn't satified with the depth of the experience. It was actually possible to see yourself playing the guitar. the idea wasn't strong enough. though the experiment was a success, it seemed to not push the concept to it fullest potential. i labeled the first experiment as a trial experiment.
