Prix Ars Electronica 1996
Since it first took place in 1987, the Prix Ars Electronica has
continously evolved to become an international forum for creative
applications in the area of digital media.
With over 10,000 entries from all over the world, the Prix Ars
Electronica has become a barometer for developments and trends
throughout the past few years. It is a distinction and recognition for
the master builders of cyberspace; the Golden Nica has become a symbol
for creativity and pioneering spirit.
The Austrian Broadcasting Company, Upper Austrian Regional Studios, as
the organizer of the Prix Ars Electronica, invites artists, scientists
and developers to participate in this tenth edition of the competition
in 1996.
There are three money prizes and as many as 12 honorary mentions for
each competition category.
The competition categories :
* World Wide Web
* Interactive Art
* Computer Animation
* Computer Music
Total prize money: ATS 1,25 million (US$ 125,000) (dollar exchange
rate from Dec. 20, 1995)
