: What dimensions &/or proportions should our images be
: 1) when scanning

150 DPI (dots per inch)

: 2) when working in photoshop &

Still 150 DPI, RGB Mode, something reasonably size
Reasonable in proportion to the final size, in most cases
1 Meg will be more than sufficiently large.

You can tell an images size by looking at the number in the
lower left hand cornder of the image window in photoshop
or by highlighting the images icon on the desktop and hitting
open-apple-I.

: 3)when in Director?

72 DPI, Index Color Mode sized in accordance with the stage.

: Should our image/canvas sizes all be the same?

No your images can be any size, layered or streched.

: Should we use the whole stage space in Director?

However you like, you may also resize the stage to a
custom setting using Director's Preferences.

: How large (in k) should we allow each individual image
: to be in order to aim for a whole director piece of
: 300k?

This is a good question, but probably a task in itself,
there is a way to do it, but it is very complicated, but
guessing by counting up all the K is pretty accurate.

If you image is too large you might consider resizing
it, and/or your stage. 300K might seem stingy, but
it's pretty generous for a potential Shockwave piece.
Don't think in inches, think in pixels, like 300-400
pixels wide and high.

: Also: What monitor size should we select in
: Director?

My advice is use a Custom Sizing.
