Here is a forward of an email I sent out to Austin journalists tonight.
I am fine -- I just wanted to give an example of how the media got terribly
missused last week.

> I don't know if you are aware of the events that took place on the morning show at 101X
> last Thursday......Here is a brief recap:
>
> As part of the almost month-long, russian roulette, style DJ auditions for the fate of the morning show
> since Sara Trexler is moving in December, Fletch & Kara Krouser were auditioning on my normal time-slot
> 6-10am. Thursday was when the A&M story broke. Apparently Kara overheard other station personnel
> discussing the story in the office breakroom, went back into the studio to tell Fletch something was up with
> A&M.... They went on the air whereupon Fletch played the UT fight song as Kara broke the story for 101X.
> I did not hear the broadcast, other remarks were made in a joking fashion as well.
>
> Well, to say the least - the SHIT hit the fan. I was asked by Sara Trexler to come on the air the next day (Friday)
> to help with 'Damage Control' (Fletch & Kara were supposed to be on Friday as well) -- I agreed and we
> had Fletch & Kara come on the air around 7ish to make a formal, public apology for what they said.
> The broadcast went well, however many many listeners were still pissed!
>
> I do not stand behind Fletch & Kara in what they did -- It may have been a mistake & they may not have
> meant to come off as unsympathetic, but the fact remains that they were not prepared for their 'airbreak'.
> That showed a total lack of professionalism - even by 101X standards.
>
> This was a terrible tragedy & they stepped way over the line....
>
>
> Now, as if this wasn't bad enough -- there's more!
> It seems that during this past month of DJ roulette, even though Sara hasn't been consistently around.
> I have--- as the female voice. It appears that several individuals assumed it was me who was on the air that day
> when in fact I was not! I have received over 40 hate emails from folks who think this is the case. (and this has just been
> over the past two days.) I have tried to reply to all of them to assure them that the two DJ's who did screw-up
> have been dealt with (as well as the LBJS company saw fit anyway) -- and that I am here for them if needed.
>
> Emails are harmless, however I had quite the scare on Saturday night as a young male (in his early 20's)
> threw a full beer bottle at me -- I ducked and it missed me but nonetheless I was quite shocked.
> He said something to the effect of "that's for what you said on the air about A&M, bitch!"
> Luckily he ran off -- needless to say I was stunned.....
>
> In my emails to the upset individuals I expressed my concern for this tragedy & let them know I was here to help.
> I also noted that it's not about them boycotting the station or even knowing that it wasn't me that said those
> horrible things -- rather it is about loss and people trying to find a solution for their pain.
>
> I hate to be petty here and say "it wasn't me' -- but I have to admit I was fearful for my safety after Saturday.
> This also brings up many issues I have with the potential dangers about media & the internet & confusion over certain
> issues. I know this type of thing happens often & it scares me. This whole chain of events has left me feeling
> empty inside.....By the very nature of the fact that I work at 101X I have to wear that badge. However, in light of what
> happened, it's not really about the station.
> The big issue is the fact that there was a terrible tragedy. Other issues stressing me involve
> the DJ auditions on my station, the lack of professionalism exhibited, the dangers of the media & the internet
> , the fact that a percentage of the public thinks it was me who said those things and the bottle thrown at me....
>
> I hope I haven't rambled on too much -- I just wanted to set the record straight.
> I am a bit freaked out by all this -- considering everything happening at once.
> Fletch & Kara have been held accountable for their actions -- No one can go back & change what they said.
> I just hope people realize this and can move forward to help others deal with their losses and offer
> support, love & compassion for the victims of this tragedy.
>
> If you can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.
> I can be reached at 407-8196 if needed.
>
> Sincerely
> Jenn Garrison.
