Hi all dear neighborhood bandwidth-thirsty friends,
Well PacBell installed one of the first home DSL lines in the Santa Cruz
mtns and it really rocks. I clocked it at sustained 135Kbytes/second (is
that just about 1.1 Megabit/sec I guess?). So now it is Instant MP3s,web
and 3D worlds in a flash and ftp in 1/25th of the time. Very solid so far.
Hehe, well maybe when there are more people signed up, it will go down to
the normal crawl! Try to get signed up. I may be singing the blues as we
face the inevitable service outages, and won't toss the modems into the
compost heap just yet!
The Digi-Garden just got Digi for real! Linux server and house network DHCP
is next with a little help from our friends! Come sample the bandwidth..
A heartfelt thanks to Thadius Jean of the local Pacbell Yard here for his
early intelligence and helping to get us on the top of the list! Thad,
maybe you can be on hand for our learning experience if JM comes over to
show us how to set up the house network?
