Dear Dr. Stone,

Hope all is well. Today’s class really made me excited about
the upcoming semester, but the sad part is that I am not technically in
the class. My name is Mark Miller (the guy with the big hair, a gross
beard, and a large belly) and in today’s discussion you told me to write
and tell you about my situation. I applied to the class last spring. I
submitted a video and a resume, but I can’t remember if I wrote a
statement of purpose.

I guess that it would be nice if I gave you some information on
who I am. Anyway, to start off, my overall G.P.A. is a 3.9 and I am
currently enrolled in the Intensive Production Sequence. Recently, I
received an Undergraduate Research Fellowship from the University and I
have been teaching film and video to adults with developmental
disabilities. The focus is to give people access to equipment that is
usually unavailable. Experimenting with new media is something that
truly interests me and recently I began showing my films and videos via
real player (www.monkeysrobots.com). Finally, I have been collaborating
with a Flash animator in town and we are working on a music video for
Daniel Johnston that will be done in the next few weeks. Basically, It
has been an exciting summer and I am ready to create more interesting
content for myself and for others.

I am beginning to understand the potential of the Internet
for exhibiting one’s art, which really gives me hope for my own work.
I have heard so much positive feedback about the class and I feel that
something insightful can be taken away that can be later used for my
future film and video projects (at the moment I do not know what that
is, but that’s why I am here). Sex is something that is always on my
mind and I realize that my sexual point of view is so narrow. Overall,
I am ready to work hard and learn. If you have any questions please
email me at meatmanmiller@mail.utexas.edu or call me at 323-5307.
Thanks for your time and I hope to see you on Monday.

Sincerely,
Mark Miller

P.S. Please check out my shorts via the Internet. Enjoy! Before I
forget, back in April I promised you (by email) that if I got into the
class that I would dance the jig. Don't you want to see me boogie?
